WATERFALL - NEAR MENARI, KOKODA TRACK, PAPUA NEW GUINEA
The Kokoda track was the scene of bitter fighting between the Australian and Japanese Armies during the days of World War II. These days it is one of the World's great treks, linking the southern and northern coasts of Papua New Guinea, through 96 km of rugged mountain countryside, rain forest, and mountain streams tumbling into deep mountain valleys. I recently trekked this wonderful land in 8 days, lost 10 kilos, and loved every moment! My Father had fought in the area and I had been commissioned by the R.S.L. to paint an exhibition of the track so I had the emotional challenge, the physical challenge, and the artistic challenge during this adventure. This is one of the paintings for the Exhibition to come. I hope you enjoy it.
