FARM HOUSE IN THE MORNING LIGHT AUSTRALIA

Australia has such amazing farm scenes to paint! And the light is so different from anywhere else on Earth! This is a typical Aussie farm scene painted early in the morning with the dappled shadows falling against the old weathered home. This area is now in drought and we need rain desperately to fill the catchment reservoirs. Still, I enjoyed painting this lovely morning.

EVENING REFLECTIONS - PORT MACQUARIE, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA

I recently had the privilege to tutor a Watercolour Workshop in this beautiful area of Australia. Together, the students and I had a wonderful time painting in the area. This scene is just opposite the motel I was staying at. The golden evening light just shimmered through the atmosphere. I could not help myself but try to capture this beautiful scene. God, the great creator certainly comes up with some incredible scenery to paint!

WATERFALL - NEAR MENARI, KOKODA TRACK, PAPUA NEW GUINEA

The Kokoda track was the scene of bitter fighting between the Australian and Japanese Armies during the days of World War II. These days it is one of the World's great treks, linking the southern and northern  coasts of Papua New Guinea, through 96 km of rugged mountain countryside, rain forest, and mountain streams tumbling into deep mountain valleys. I recently trekked this wonderful land in 8 days, lost 10 kilos, and loved every moment! My Father had fought in the area and I had been commissioned by the R.S.L. to paint an exhibition of the track so I had the emotional challenge, the physical challenge, and the artistic challenge during this adventure. This is one of the paintings for the Exhibition to come. I hope you enjoy it.

THE KOKODA TRACK - JULY 2008

I was commissioned to paint an Exhibition of the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea and trek 96 kilometres in 8 days in July 2008. The R.S.L. (Returned Serviceman's League) invited me to paint one of the great treks in the World, and I was very excited to have the opportunity. My Dad had fought in the area during the World War II conflict and in many places along the track I was walking in his footsteps. It is one of the toughest things I have ever done in my life. I had the emotional, physical, and artistic challenges to deal with. I am working on this exhibition at the moment. I painted 15 pieces on the Track and am in the process of completing the final paintings now. Here is a pic of me painting in a village called Isurava. Will post some pics of the paintings later.
